Of course our primary use is for our reproductive work, imaging pregnancies in all stages and evaluating infertility issues or health problems like uterine and ovarian disease. We routinely refer to our local radiologist for full advanced imaging. Yet we are able to quickly evaluate for mass lesions or fluid in the abdomen or chest in emergencies, look for cystic cavities or abscesses inside lesions, and so forth. We can even look at soft tissue injuries or look through the open fontanelle on a puppy’s skull to check for hydrocephalus. Our technicians use our third, older ultrasound machine when collecting urine samples, and can see if there are any unexpected bladder stones or other lesions.
